Pete Seeger Tribute Concert

Unitarian Hall , 595 Townsite Rd., Nanaimo BC

A tribute to the late Pete Seeger in celebration of the 99th birthday. Performers include Bob Bossin, The Konsorados, Tony Turner, Leah Hokanson, and Jim & Joe Spinelli. Tickets are $25 and available at Fascinating Rhythm and Arbutus Music, and any left will be sold at the door.

Rise Up Singing - Voices Together

First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, 30 Cleary, Ottawa

I'll be sharing the stage with Annie Patterson and Peter Blood, creators of the Rise Up Singing and Rise Again folk songbooks. Guests Ian Robb and The Chalice Choir. Featuring Pete Seeger songs and other tunes from the two songbooks. Net proceeds benefit the work of the Odawa Native Friendship Centre. Tickets are $25. Opus of Hope benefit concert for Syrian Refugee Families. A number of local musicians will share their talents to raise money to unite Syrian families. Tony's last house concert in Quebec before moving to the west coast. The exquisite harmonies and playing of Ann Downey on upright bass and Juno-nominated Anna Ludlow on fiddle will accompany Tony. Seating is limited.

The 8th annual Gil's Hootenanny - sing along songs of protest and hope. Aside from co-hosting with Karen Flanagan-McCarthy, I will be playing a few songs. Featured performers are Moonfruits, Mark Evenchick, The Elizabeth Riley band and the winner of this year's singalongable songwriting contest. $10 admission in advance at Metro Music and Octopus Books or at the door.
